Even as the industry evolves, people will remain central to its success.
- 30+ years in the sector
- Circular economy skills
- The Wombles
Nick believes that the waste sector has a pivotal role to play in the circular economy, and developing skills are at the heart of this. There is both complexity and opportunity, particularly in how materials are managed, and it’s a sector that offers broad and valuable career opportunities.
Waste has evolved significantly and continues to do so, particularly with technology. This means that companies need people who are not only tech savvy, but know how to adapt systems and processes to work with technology.
Because of this, Nick is a strong advocate for assessing skills, attitude and behaviour to determine competency and potential in candidates. His in-depth knowledge of the waste sector and ability to build industry relationships has contributed to WasteRecruit’s reputation as a trusted recruiter.
Away from work
A curious fact about Nick is his affinity for The Wombles. A favourite TV programme as a child, he’s spent 30 years talking to, recruiting and placing real-life Wombles in the waste and resource sector.
