Where we stand
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Every page is checked automatically against those criteria whenever the site changes, at desktop and at phone width, and a page that fails does not ship. Automated checks catch perhaps a third of real accessibility problems, so they are a floor rather than a guarantee.
What we have built in
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, including the menu, the service tabs and the vacancy rail, with a visible focus outline throughout.
- A skip link to the main content, landmarks, and headings in a logical order.
- Text meets AA contrast against its background, in every colour we use.
- Motion respects
prefers-reduced-motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, entrance animations and the scrolling vacancy rail stop, and the rail becomes a list you can scroll yourself. - Nothing is conveyed by colour alone — assessment bands and risk levels are written out in words as well as shown.
- Form fields have visible labels, errors appear next to the field they belong to, and no error is signalled by colour alone.
- The site works at 320px wide and when text is enlarged.
Known limitations
- Documents sent by email during a recruitment process — briefings and assessment reports — are not produced to the same standard as this website. Ask us and we will provide the content in a format that works for you.
- Vacancy text is written by our consultants and by client organisations. We edit for clarity, but wording and structure vary.
- We have not yet completed a full audit with assistive technology users. Automated testing is not a substitute for that, and we would rather say so than imply a level of assurance we do not have.
Adjustments in a recruitment process
If you need an adjustment at any stage — applying, interviewing, or completing an assessment — tell the consultant handling your application or email us, and we will arrange it. That includes extra time, alternative formats, a different way of completing an assessment, or accessibility requirements for an interview venue. Asking has no bearing on how your application is considered, and what you tell us is handled as described in our privacy policy.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site does not work for you, we want to know — it is the fastest way for us to find the things testing misses. Email admin@wasterecruit.com or call 01252 353 080, and tell us the page and what happened. We will reply within five working days.
If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which advises on discrimination and access to services in England, Scotland and Wales.
