PFI Contract Supervisor

Our client is one of the UK’s leading waste and resource management companies, with over 200 facilities and 4,500 employees across the UK.

A vacancy currently exists for a Supervisor to take responsibility for ensuring that waste facilities associated with a municipal PFI contract in the North West are operated in line with regulatory standards, good operational practice and all relevant company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for promoting safe working practices, environmental compliance and operational excellence. Facilities include HWRCs, an MBT plant, MRF, Transfer Station and IVC plant.

This vacancy is for a full-time, permanent position, working 42.5 hours per week.

Main Duties:

  • Ensuring facilities operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Implementing and promoting Health & Safety and Environmental policies
  • Maintaining strong relationships with regulators, customers and local stakeholders
  • Maximising recycling performance and ensuring operational targets are achieved
  • Managing contracts and customer relationships
  • Monitoring operational costs and contributing to budgets and forecasts
  • Overseeing site maintenance activities and minimising equipment downtime
  • Leading, developing and motivating site teams to achieve business objectives
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous waste, recycling or resource management experience
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience delivering operational targets in a demanding environment
  • Experience managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Proven line management experience, including coaching and developing teams
  • Operational and contract management experience within a regulated industry
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong IT and numerical skills with the ability to analyse and use management information
  • Confident leader who can inspire teams and drive high standards
  • Commercial awareness and a results-focused approach
  • Committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence
