Health and Safety Adviser

Our client is a nationwide award-winning waste management company specialising in the transportation and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Adviser, specialising in risk assessments, method statements and competency assessments to join the company’s Compliance Team, based at their treatment site in Manchester.  

Main Duties:

  • Communicate effectively with personnel from all sections of the business to complete and update risk assessments, method statements and competency assessments for various waste management transport and treatment activities.
  • Work with the Engineering team and contractors to ensure that the company’s Control of Contractors procedures are followed and documentation is retained.
  • Review the results of health surveillance and implement actions as required.
  • Ensure documents are retained and communicated to relevant personnel in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System.

Essential Requirements:

  • 5+ years H&S Safety experience in a waste management, chemical processing or other industrial work environment.
  • Relevant H&S qualifications such as IOSH.
  • Proven record of completing risk assessments, method statements and competency assessments in an industrial work environment.
  • Strong team player with a focus on working with others.
  • Ability to engage personnel from a variety of disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT literacy with ability to use Microsoft Office products and the internet.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
  • Proactive and positive self-starter.
  • Well organised with good time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (there will be occasional travel to other sites in Northern England).

Desirable Requirements:

  • NEBOSH H&S Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiar with management systems such as ISO Standards.
